WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Michael Routh,
United School of Tokyo,
Head of PE
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Heather Onderick for the last eight months at the United School of Tokyo (UST). I joined UST this year and have settled in well due to Heathers support and care for new teachers. I have worked closely with Heather developing the physical education curriculum. She is an organized, dedicated, knowledgeable and professional leader who trusts her staff and encourages everyone to evolve as an educator. After receiving positive reinforcement, wise advice, care and constant support, Heather is a leader you dont want to let down. Heather works incredibly hard, has many different roles within the the school and leads by example with inspiration and sacrifice second to none. She is a highly respected leader. All staff, students and parents appreciate Heathers continued and selfless work and results. She would be a huge loss to UST, but I can, without hesitation, recommend Heather for any future leadership position she aspires. Any school and community would be lucky to have her.

Allison Flett,
G3 Classroom teacher,
AES Lincoln
Heather Onderick has supported me as a classroom teacher in her role as Learning Coach at the Lincoln School in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I’ve worked with Heather in a formal coaching cycle, informally in my classroom, and I’ve observed her lead both team and staff meetings. Heather is competent, organized and possesses the rare ability to balance the big picture of a school’s curriculum scope and sequence in tandem with the details necessary to each individual grade level.
Heather has been an amazing thinking partner for literacy initiatives in my Grade 3 classroom. Our work planning and executing an informational reading unit was deep and rich. Using standards and data collected from students, we were able to curate a unit uniquely personalized to the learners. The work we did ultimately lifted the level of partner conversations (a much needed area for growth in my class) and positively impacted not just the reading unit but classroom conversations for the remainder of the year.

Heather Onderick has a deep understanding of teaching and learning. She is a voracious professional learner, always on the cutting edge of what's happening in instructional coaching, curricular development, assessment, and literacy instruction. She also studies her own school, noticing trends in problems of practice and implementing action research that makes new knowledge. Heather's one of those people you can count on to do things with excellence. She's a joy to work with!
